Hey folks, Lately we've all been heavily focused on how much our players averages are progressing. Over the last week or so, I've been training Junior CF and assembling my training so as to increase the players averages as much as possible but am now realising this is probably not the best thing to do. My Training schedule for the last week was essentially: Shots on goal Shots on goal Dribbling Dribbling Beating Markers Beating Markers Attacking Headers In that time, my juniors have gone up 2 points in averages at the most. This is fine, however, I now realise that because Dribbling and Beating Markers affect the Dribbling attribute substantially (increases between 0.9 and 1.1) I now have a whole bunch of CFs who can dribble better than they can shoot. This is not good. I've now modified my training schedule to: Shots on goal Shots on goal Dribbling Dribbling Attacking headers Attacking headers Beating Markers In time, this should turn the tide in favour of shooting and give me more what I'm after. After reviewing this, I think it's time we started focusing on the effect of each training type on individual attributes rather than average. My players might only gain 0.28 or whatever on their average, but the real improvement is the individual stat. A 1.1 increase in average last season would be seen as significant, I feel the same should apply this season to attributes. Rather than trying to figure out what training programmes we can devise to produce the higher average, we should turn our attention to what training programmes produce the highest attribute changes. Would you rather have a CF with an average of 50 that has 50% finishing, 50% dribbling? Or a CF with an average of 40 that has 70% finishing and 30% dribbling. That's an outrageous example but you get my point. What do we want our players to be able to do best on the park. There was a post a while ago that said averages don't really mean much anymore, and at the time I didn't really believe it. It's not entirely true right now because the attributes were calculated based on the averages when the system changed over. In time though, it will come to mean very little because while a CF (for instance) my have an average of 45, his finishing might be around the 70 mark and this is what counts in the simulator. I'm probably the last person to figure this out, but in the General Forums there remains a lot of focus on average change rather than attribute change which makes me think a lot of managers are yet to come around to the idea. What do you reckon? |

Yeah that doesn't make any sense anymore and should probably be changed. It applies to seniors though just the same. Unfortunately, the system is still heavily designed around the idea that averages are what count. When it really comes down to it though, it's not the case. It can be very misleading particularly for new managers. |

To be truly successful in this game this is what I think we need: 1. A list of training types and how much they influence attributes (forget average) 2. A list of attributes and how they affect a players performance. i.e. I've noticed that players with a high Aggression attribute cause more fouls, and those with a low strength attribute get knocked down easily. What the hell does Leadership do? |

Hahaha, yeah . My CF got knocked out on the ground like 100 times by opponent CDF with higher aggression and strength . Leadership , well maybe a better Captain and he will yell more . |

yeah I get that, but how does that translate in the simulator? Better performance from players? Better positioning? | 18/10/2011 04:47 |

In the youth team it's hard to focus on one attribute. I'm doing defence and I just use all the training types as theres not that many... going ok for now With CF's they need finishing, speed and strength I would say. |
