Should I write a small piece on the Economics of Striker Manager?

Ok, I recently noticed that there are certain trends in the transfer market, and they've always fascinated me. Why is a 40/19 IM worth 1.8 Million one week, worth 2.8 Million the next, and then barely fetching a million another week? How much are players worth, and how much does this differ? What about the cost/benefit analysis of buying players vs. upgrading the stadium? etc.etc.etc. To cut to the chase, this REALLY fascinates me, and I want to write a small (maybe large) piece on the Economics of Striker Manager... What does everyone think? I also think I'd need a lot of help from people to make it happen too! |

The more detailed the better, there's a lot that needs to be addressed. Frankly there could be a few articles on the subject, we'll see if we need anymore after you're done. Good luck, Godspeed, don't get banned. |

My only worry is that it would probably turn into a mini-dissertation! Which is partly why I'm keen for it to be a bit of a group effort (with whoever has an interest in Economics/Research) to get involved... This would probably require a lot of research to do properly, but thankfully, with things like 'similar transfers', a lot of the hard work has already been done... But there would be so many practical uses.. Such as the difference in prices over the course of a day. i.e. a 6am auction, and a 12pm auction. Ideally though, I WANT YOUR IDEAS ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT TO KNOW!!! At least then I can write about things that everyone has an interest in, as opposed to what just interests me. If anyone is interested in perhaps getting involved, feel free to send me a PM! |

You know I'd help with the stats work and stuff, I had a plan on doing transfers in div 3, I might be able to trace some price hikes through that. | 10/10/2011 05:46 |

Ideally, we're looking for the following in terms of volunteers: Help with Economic theory - Any expertise here with regards to adapting Economic Theory to Striker Manager Help with writing - Anybody with a basic understanding of Economics to help with Writing Help with Research - Anybody who has an interest for research Sample Participants - For this, we need an active group of game players to basically answer a list of questions (Easy job.. but totally necessary) HEWHOAMAREISMYSELF is in charge of all statistics related to the project. Ultimately, whilst the first three catagories are helpful, they're not necessary, as I am happy to do the bulk of the theorising/writing myself. What IS required, is people who are willing to form a part of our sample, and even more important... is QUESTIONS! Questions from you, about what it is that you want to know! At least we can then attempt to tailor this to the issues that people actually want to know about! e.g. - When are prices at their lowest/highest? What are the most popular players to find? Either by average or position? etc..etc..etc... The more questions and ideas we receive, the more practical a tool this can be, as opposed to just a general overview! I expect that now it is harder to train players to a high level, this will cause lower rated players to drop in value, because there will more of them, and higher rated players values to increase. Any analysis of this would be great as it will really throw light on whether recent training changes are going to have an impact beyond squad strength and into team finances. Will the disparity between rich and poor teams increase as many suspect? |
