Here is a link that states he started out as a striker.... http://totalsoccershow.com/blog/van-der-sar-a-giant-among-men/ I understand that a GK will not get better when he is taught to dribble, but his ability to dribble should either not exist for GK or it should go up. There are some players that have a very low GK ability, if I train them with GK training will it go up? I know this game can't be perfect..... so far it is fun!!! |

he is an original goalie, its just that he had somewhat of a good striking ability. doesnt mean he would be a good striker tho. theres more things you need to be good at then striking abilty if you want to be a striker. and yea my advise just train him saves, catching high balls and penalty saves, thats best for him |

NO, he played as a Striker, and moved to GK. Lets have someone else answer the question. |

As it has been stated many times before this is not real life, so don't compare it. In this game the only attributes relevant to a GK are Saves and Leadership, therefore they are the only ones that can be improved. | 05/10/2011 02:04 |

This is correct^^^ But for most other players you will (once training starts again) be able to train specific stats/attributes (like Ball Steal) for any player. Playing out of position will kick in the "versatility" factor of your player, I quote from our new FAQ: Q: What is the versatility stat? A: It shows how easily a player can adjust to different positions. This pertains to stats/attributes only - For example: If an IM with pass 99, versatility 99, plays as RIM, he might get his pass reduced to 95 but if another IM with pass 99, but 0 versatility, plays as RIM, he might get his pass reduced to 88 instead So playing a GK as a Striker will not help even if the GK has 99 versatility because his finishing is 0. * Note: This is for playing only and has nothing to do with training. A player that played out of position will have lower motivation (we need to see training in action before this is confirmed) and if the training calculation is the same which includes motivation, it will reduce the training amount. I will be posting a comprehensive training Tutorial in "FAQ & Tutorials" once training starts and we have a better idea how it works...so stay tuned ![]() Edited by @GunnerNic 05-10-2011 08:13 |
