If someone has put up an player for auction and receives a starting bid, but in order to kick start the auction, he bids on his own player twice after the initial bid to increase the price/draw attention.

is this cheating and should we be reporting such instances? I have seen this once before and seeing it right now... so wanted to make sure if it is against rules before reporting.

Unethical... I completely agree,

but is it enough to lodge a complaint. Last thing i want is to write a complaint and then find out that it is perfectly alright for them to jack up their players auction prices when suitable.

Does anyone have experience whether this kind of behavior is taken seriously by admins and those responsible are punished?

Substitute
I previously considered it unethical, but this week my new RB was hostiled and I decided I needed my previous starting RB after I had put him up for auction. So there are occasionally circumstances where a manager could change his mind after putting up a player for auction. That said, I think most of the time its just pumping the auction, which is a sleazy move. This has been discussed previously and it was noted that buying your own player back at auction at least sticks you with the %5 tax on purchases. 30/09/2011 10:52

It is not classed as cheating, just frowned upon. The best thing to do is not bid on the player. That way the owner buys back his own player and has to pay the tax on it. 30/09/2011 10:53
