Manager Stundek is bouyant ahead of Stonepost United's Round 15 Striker Cup clash with MCC United - mainly because it would appear as though MCC are managerless. "They're going to run out, and the captain will probably have to try and dictate terms to us," said the Stonepost boss. "His board are probably wondering which cliff he's fallen off." Indeed, MCC's manager Benzilla hasn't reported to duty for over a month, and with a recent record of three straight losses, the board will be testy for a result. However, Stundek believes that despite MCC's predicament, they are not to be taken lightly. "We will be ready, and we'll ensure that our defence is well armed. We want to show that even though we are new to this competition, we're going to take the game to any opposition drawn against us. We're not here to make up the numbers." Stonepost United face MCC United at Stonepost Stadium on Tuesday. |

Stonepost United held on to a nervy 6-4 win over MCC United in what proved to be a see-saw encounter in the Striker Cup this afternoon. "I was seriously crapping myself at 4-3, but little did I know it would end like this" said Stonepost manager Stundek. "Their keeper Mitch Beeson pulled off a host of stunning saves, usually from Chris Earl - so we could easily have had a larger margin had it not been for him. As for our boys, I thought Ryan Wright had a big game bossing it in the middle. I thought having him named as the man of the match was the right decision. That all said, we've got work to do back on the tranining pitch ahead of our next friendly." There was some controversy about the third Stonepost goal, with television replays suggesting the ball had crossed the by-line only for Earl to tap-in from the left post at close range. But there was no doubt about the fourth goal, a cleverly worked move from the right wing by Bonner, dummied through by Danny Jack into the path of Chris Earl who blasted a fantastic one-time shot into the bottom right-hand corner. MCC came back strongly in the second half, and Stundek was dismayed at how many soft goals his defence leaked in. "Our players will be working at that in the new week, and they will be working hard" he warned. Stonepost have a rest until later today when they're away to Gargoyles in a pre-season friendly. But if they stand a chance of progressing in the Striker Cup, serious work will need to be carried out in order to prevent an early exit.
