First, let me say having my a$$ handed to me is no fun. So after being beaten in the first two games, then playing another 20pt inferior team to a virtual tie, tactics are very involved. This is good and bad.... Good for the game, bad for me. Before, the model was business, with simple strategies. I stink at business, but I am an excellent strategist. On whole, I was winner. I could follow 1-3 general strategies and be golden. Now, the model is tactical, and calls for *very* detailed study, for both attributes and gameplay. My wife and children and job will not appreciate this, I want you to know. They already say I'm addicted and should seek treatment immediately. This does not improve my prognosis. In the 70's cocaine was addictive, then came crack. If you take a solid hit with an open mind, you were screwed, and needed more despite the drawbacks....not understanding why. Ok, maybe hot sauce is a better example. Either way, I will probably never master this, and that is high praise. It will level the playing field in the short term between people who can't afford to buy golden balls and are willing to put in the time and those that do, and won't. Even those that do both will be able to be countered somehow. Seeing the game helps, and makes it so that you don't need the cheesy commentary...which could be more cheesy than ever. With the explanations regarding goal differentials, it's easier to see now what's going on, whereas before, all we had were uneducated guesses. So on balance, this is a huge leap forward. And taking the time to get training right is a good thing...but...can you extend hostile protection until we can evaluate players properly? Bad: Addictive. No time to properly deal with changes, and my internet access is limited. (if you can fix the last two, then you will be truly great) Something is goofy: Schools, own goals...training obviously... Needs improvement: communication...more @ to improve communication....press officer...communication... Good: comparable sales (which is a huge help, but doesn't account for non-sales), leveled out training (in principle), Great: Flash graphics that actually sort of matches the commentary, tactics, formations and gameplay...it's really remarkable, and not just eye candy. So thanks. I thank you, my family doesn't. |

rebsiot, that was a well thought out and worded post. Well done. I do agree that the tactical changes are pretty dramatic and do level the playing field, though the interface could be a little bit cleaner and easier to use. I know i keep bringing it up, but take a look at ManagerZone for examples on how the tactical and training aspects can be done really well. I like the direction the dev team is going, and i'm sure they will get the current bumps all ironed out... much to the detriment of a significant portion of our collective "free time". |

Yea, my job is as an analyst, and I've worked extensively on a Warranty Implementation. They did something similar in terms of Business Conditions.... Put in a Rule, then attach an action. This is a bit more clunky, but there's no intuitive way to do it. Now a big issue is the order they are evaluated in, and the missing conditions...like what happens if a player to be subbed isn't in the game through injury or red card....(I got thoroughly hosed by that very thing)... This stuff can be remedied for sure, but this style of resolving things seems to be a standard way of doing stuff in a Java-style implementation...to a person with VB background like me, it all seems backward... There are several major things it seems to be ironed out, but it is obvious they are changing things on the prod server as fast as they can... The spanish text on the invalid/duplicate condition in advanced tactics now reads in English... even though it says it deactivates the new condition, it's not deactivated... but, we are all playing on the same playing field....even if it is full of holes and you can break an ankle... |
