As discussed before this is the rating system we are going to use this season to rate our teams so that it becomes easier to compare our teams. Each team will be given equal rating initially and NOT according to their team(as I said before) and the reason is new simulator. I have tried at least five different ways to rate individual teams according to the players they have but the results were unsatisfactory. These ratings will be updated after each round. And the way it works is as below: Suppose team A has rating 2500 and team B has 2100 rating before their match. So in simple terms higher the difference in rating the higher are chances of team A to win this match(termed as expected score in formula).Consider following cases: The result turns out to be draw 1-1 then team A's rating will drop and will increase for team B because team A did not perform as expected. Team A loses to Team B then in that case Team A's rating will drop even more and vice verse for team B. Team A wins then Team A's rating increases but not by much because of difference in rating(its opponent is not that powerful). So if the difference in rating is very less then it is likely that the result will be a draw, but as we have new simulator anything can happen and so the one who wins in this case gets a boost in his/her rating. There is also another factor which is called goal index, and it uses the difference in goals so if the score is 1-0 then G.I.=1(goal index), if the difference in goals is more then goal index is calculated by another formula. Also since all teams will be starting out with equal ratings, initial expectations will be that each match will be a draw but that is not going to happen so the one who wins with more goals will take the lead and then the above procedure will be repeated after each match. And for awards like most progressive player the one who progresses the most in their rating will get it , but it will only be considered in next half of the next season because in first half we are all starting with same rating so the one who is top will be most progressive which is not correct and we also need time to adjust with the new simulator. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Football_Elo_Ratings You can follow the url for more details or you can ask me here. Please note that I have updated the ratings again because there was an error in calculation on my part and I am sorry for that. However only the first two and the last two Ratings were affected. And the reason is that goal difference is not directly used in the formula instead it is used to find goal index with other formula which is then used in the final equation. I apologize again for any inconvenience caused due to this and assure you that it will not happen again because now it will be done by computer so no chance for any human error. And all ratings are rounded off to next highest number wherever it is necessary. |
