The game shouldn't allow 35 year old into the market becose nobody can buy them. I tried it and it says :
" The player is considering withdrawing from the competition and will actively do not want to commit so many years"
We can't buy a player for 1 year so what's the point of putting them on the market

How older players retire (options for contracts, becoming staff, etc) and aging needs to be redone/rethought out.

Right now, your player actually drops MORE in average when they train... which is ridiculous, and I think that older players age WAY too quickly

yup, i agree, i loaned old player for a backup and i am worried that at the end of the season, his av would be bellow 0, he is getting worse extremely fast, but i dont care, he plays only private league matches. You have a point though 09/07/2011 16:23

Golden Ball
Given that there are:

No such thing as career or season ending injuries
A good doctor can make the worst 10 week injury only last 2 weeks maximum (-4 first few days, -4 next few days )

Also, It is possible to field a near perfect squad of all 19 year olds with specialized training.

Finally, very elite athletes are frequently late bloomers. On here, the best ones ALWAYS start earlier. This just doesn't reflect reality, where early specialization and phenoms burn out and the star that lasts from 18 through 30 is almost non-existent. (thank you mr. adu)

So, there has to be a compromise struck. You can start the best athletes later, completely randomize the decline, lower the progression rates and make training great athletes more difficult and even slower still (for a junior, the best you can do is 2.5 pts/week for the perfect midfielder. Going from 30->70 takes 20 weeks...add some slip time in and it is almost 6 months real time for the perfect ball player to go from a good start to great...you would like longer?)...also, add season ending injuries, career ending injuries and you get an average of around 26 or so. Seriously elite ball players

Look at the top 50 strikers (argue all you want about 35-50, so what)
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/749817-messi-rooney-villa-and-the-top-50-strikers-in-world-football-right-now

average age 26.5
60% between 23 & 27
75% between 21 & 28
6% 30+ (So let's just call those players STAR PLAYERS)

Seriously, 6% of players? Since players are allowed to peak *super early* in this game, it more than balances for the perceived age issue.

5 years from now, it will be different names, but the numbers will looks close to the same... So the averages bear it out, players decline after 27. Now how to simulate this in a game?

The only way overall average is impacted in this game is during the training runs, so it is easiest to attach to that. You absolutely must modify training as you get older, you reach your physical peak for this sport at 26 on average. Since you can only train as a group, it makes sense to decline players according to the amount of training. You want to train your younger players unreasonably hard? Do so at the expense of your older players.... let's call it "I'm paying too much attention to the rising superstar so I'm upset off and playing less hard"

You should worry much more about the economics of the game than the progression/regression rates. The Spanish version shows that inflation will become a problem. Contrary to what people say, the top clubs will have entirely too much money, making it difficult to break through once everything starts. You will have to start early, find good players, and grow them internally to compete in the upper divisions...rather than trying to outspend them, you will have to outsmart them, and trust me, that will not be easy to do.

Although they do not communicate very well, and I am probably one of admins most vocal critics, but the developers have done a fairly good job of balancing all of the statistics for a version 1 game == that can be played competitively (not hyper competitively) for virtually, if not completely, free.

Note: Don't loan players out if you can't live with the fact that they may be treated like crap. Loan players out as a speculative investment, a few cash in, most crash and burn...but don't rely on others to do the heavy lifting for you.
