That was an excellent post and captivating to read, rebsiot. I don't want to sound like one more post beating up on the admins, but I agree with you on many points. They are human and accidents do happen, and perhaps we have all acted in the wrong a little bit. I know I *felt* a bit guilty taking the free players even if I wasn't legally guilty...nobody else has to admit it but I'm sure the feeling appeared briefly for most, if not all, managers who signed the free players. It is interesting that the admins have now deleted all of the 90.000 "players without a team"...not a bad gesture, but one could argue that they should have done that immediately after the season ended. Right now I want more than anything to be updated - even briefly - by the admins about what they are thinking and discussing among themselves. -------- Finally, I would like to recall the end of Season 1 as many people seem to have looked over or remembered this incompletely. Among the several players I signed for what was unquestionably low prices for their value was a RW with AVG 49 and Age 23. 49 & 23 is pretty desirable, but due to the nature of the market after Season 1 he was probably overlooked by many because of his age and average below 50. There were just SOO many other good players available at the time. Anyway, I signed him for $10.000 (ten thousand) and he turned out to be my team's leading scorer in the league last season. If I was a manager who joined Striker in the middle of Season 2, and I saw that the higher-ranked teams had gotten these good players at such low prices, I would be outraged. I would like to hear the reactions of those managers who joined Striker in the middle of Season 2 to confirm my guess. Hopefully you all see what I am getting at. How will this look to the next wave of managers who join Striker? Forgive my German reference, but does every wave deserve a "Platz an der Sonne" [a place in the sun]? |

I joined 1 month into Season 2. Ended up having the team reset after 1 week, so I started the last few days of April I didn't know they got those for free until into June. What bothered me was that when we asked wtf will happen at the end of the season, there was an eerie silence. So someone knew something, somewhere. Now when I realized what was going on after about 24 hours of free agency, I thought "How can I be so F**KING STUPID?". Of course they would still be out there. So I had no guilt whatsoever about picking up $0 free agents. It wasn't wrong. I doubly had no guilt after participating in a few threads discussing it, and I didn't want there to be any free agents at all. I thought it would dilute the market and make it too easy to acquire good players. I also alluded to the possibility in Striker News. So I feel bad for the group that didn't get the opportunity, but that is an issue that admin will have to address. I think the situation sucks. I think it should have never happened in the first place. But I have not one shred of remorse or guilt for any of my actions... ok, the "regular player" comments aren't cool. Like I've said, the people who should be scared are those that participated in this type of activity after the -20% was applied. Doing that is the act of a fool. Don't stick your head into the mouth of a dragon if you want to keep it... I can almost guarantee that the penalties to those teams will be severe indeed. Think about it, -20% was deemed a fair penalty to level things out, when people had no clue it was wrong. What do you think the penalty will be for those that did after being clued in? And after admin has had a horrible week? |
