Hi Managers, I've been watching the market over the last couple of weeks and reading the forums reactions to the value of free agents. Some believe it's too high, others liked starting auctions at 0, I think the answer lies somewhere in the middle in regards to how senior players off contract should be valued on the market. I have been doing some trial and error with some figures and think I might have some sort of solution to valuing players not for free, which does make it unfair for teams trying to do the right thing and develop their players and also not too high as to price out newer and poorer teams. My calculation is based on the players average level which sets what I call a 'base price' and their age which I call a 'multiplier'. I have broken down the players averages and their base price as follows: Average - Base Price ($) 0-20 - 0 21-25 - 10,000 26-30 - 25,000 31-35 - 50,000 36-40 - 150,000 41-45 - 250,000 46-50 - 400,000 51-55 - 600,000 56-60 - 1,000,000 61+ - 2,000,000 Next you multiply their base price by the following multiplier depending on their age: Age - Multiplier 15-19 - 4 20-21 - 3.5 22-23 - 3 24-25 - 2.5 26-27 - 2 28-29 - 1.5 30-31 - 1 32+ - 0.5 For example, an 18 year old with an average of 42 is now off contract. By finding his base price (250,000) and multiplying it by his multiplier (4) he has a starting price of $1,000,000 at this price it is good value and there will almost certainly be bidding for the player, but it is not so low that good players are picked up for nothing. It isn't designed to give a player a correct market value, but encourage bidding to reach a fair value. This isn't a buy it now price, just a starting price. I think it would be a good balance for next seasons off contract players and I would like to know everyone's thoughts on this, those that have seen this in the forum before have liked the idea, and I think alot more people would like to see this next season. |

you need to add in a positional modifier. There's no way you touch a 45/18 GK or CF for $1M This is way undervalued. But a good start |

I have tweaked the base price and now drafted a position multiplier. If this makes no sense see my opening post So the equation is Base price x Age multiplier x Position Multiplier. The values to be calculated are: Average - Base Price ($) 0-20 - 0 21-25 - 10,000 26-30 - 25,000 31-35 - 50,000 36-40 - 200,000 41-43 - 300,000 44-46 - 400,000 47-49 - 500,000 50-52 - 700,000 53-55 - 800,000 56-58 - 1,000,000 59-61 - 1,200,000 62+ - 2,000,000 Next you multiply their base price by the following multiplier depending on their age: Age - Multiplier 15-19 - 4 20-21 - 3.5 22-23 - 3 24-25 - 2.5 26-27 - 2 28-29 - 1.5 30-31 - 1 32+ - 0.5 Next you multiply based on their position: GK,RF,LF,CF - 2.5 LDF,CF,RDF - 2 LM,RM,LW,RW,LB,RB - 1.5 LIM,IM,RIM,OM,MDF - 1 I think this is a real improvement and by using rebsiots example of a 45/18 GK that was valued at 1,000,000 is now valued at 4,000,000. (400,000x4x2.5) I would like to stress that these are not intended to be market values, but an attempt to prevent managers grabbing good players for next to nothing, without pricing out the newer players and encouraging exciting bidding to sort out what is the true market value. Thoughts? Edited by w-192010 18-06-2011 15:02 |
