I think this would be more fun when top managers are leading their national teams to glory while players in the national teams have their clubs rewarded about millions of dollars. 05/06/2011 20:44

It would be a very big clash between managers from the same country , specially Spain and US 06/06/2011 00:15

I think this is a very cool idea. I think it should be a reward for the best managers, regardless of their country. Maybe if the best managers had a couple offers to choose from. There could be some nominal financial benefit to it. It would be fun for the managers of the players who get called into the national teams. It would also be fun just to pull for your own nation. Anyway, you have two votes to do something like this. Maybe between every other season, or so. 06/06/2011 08:46

Cool idea indeed!
Would be nice if all managers can vote which manager they would want for their national team to coach.

Excellent idea!
There could be a world cup every 4th season.
The 2nd and 3rd season could be qualifiers to make the top 32 teams.
The 1st season after a world cup would be a dedicated to finding national team managers.
Interested managers could put themselves up for nomination for the country of their choice and possibly their 2nd and 3rd choice as well if they dont get their preferred country. Only active managers for a minimum of 2 seasons are allowed. The positions are then filled by a lottery. A manager that has had an opportunity to manage a world cup side cannot then manage again for the following world cup to give others an opportunity.
While he manages his country the manager continues to manage his club side as well.

Alternatively, national team management can be offered to the highest ranking club managers.

To be able to fill his world cup team clearly the national manager wants to get the best players. He can then choose the same nationality players from anyone's club team and lock them (like a hostile clause but lets call it "International Duty") for the qualifying game.
Only 1 player can be taken from any one team by any manager. If a team has multiple managers requesting locks on his best players, that club manager may choose which player gets the "International Duty".
The manager of that team gets very well compensated. (golden balls + cash). At least a weeks notice must be given to the club manager before locking his player. Also motivation increases for that player after international call-up so there is training benefit for the club coach.

A world cup manager does not have staff, stadium, training, finances, schools etc - he just puts together the best side he can with good tactics and tries to qualify and then go as far as he can in the tournament. 1/4, semi and finalists / winners get something next to their club logo's.

When taking over a national side the manager may choose 2 tactical boosts that will be applied to his team throughout qualifying and the tournament.
i.e
+ 1 flair, +1 counterattack or
+1 strength, +1 finishing or
+1 attack, +1 penalties or
+1 defence, +1 crossing etc

A manager may approach any player not belonging to his national side country and "offer" him citizenship for his country so that player may play in his national side. Only 2 players may be approached this way per team and after the tournament he resumes his former nationality.

Just off the top of my head guys so feel free to agree, dispute, add, change and encourage this thread!

In fact, this online game is suitable for training manual for some managers out there in the field in real life. It feels great to imagine myself being like a famous manager. 08/06/2011 20:12
