A time ago I was able to sign a very good player (Victor Croft). He was 14 and I gave him a good contract of 2200 the month for 6 years. He had a release-clause of 4.607.200 €. Today I get the message "The player has signed a contract by paying his release clause with NothAfriquia C.F. with a signing-on fee of 6.000 € and with a length of 4 years. The transfer will be effective in: Today 18:03" I knew youth players were protected and was surprisded this could happen. Now I read in the forum the following: "The (R) only appears in junior players. If you renew the contract of a junior, the (R) appears next to them. That means that player cannot be bought by paying his release clause and it cannot also be put in auction. That junior is "untouchable", it's some kind of protection." I didn't know I had to renew his contract again to get this kind of protection. The first contract I just gave hime should be sufficient. Maybe in my case, this is for the best because I can need the money but this should be changed in the future. I'm renewing the contracts of my other players immediately. |

The problem is that you signed that junior, you didn't renewed him. It's not the same... If the young player doesn't have the (R), he is not protected and may be signed by paying his release clause if his owner is registered at least 10 days in the game. Just think you're getting a nice amount of money from him, and now you know that you have to renew the contracts of the juniors you like, which is not the same as offering their first contract when signing them from another player. | 28/02/2011 10:08 |

Do you need to renew the contracts each season, or is the (R) there until you either promote or fire the player? I'm wondering if the (R) will go away when the next season starts. Otherwise, any junior player who's contract you renew, you can't sell until you promote him to the senior squad. | 04/03/2011 12:53 |

Look at the bright side of it, you learnt your lesson. Too bad you made it the hard way. As it happens in real life, a player you want to keep (whether a senior or junior) should have a good enough contrat in terms of duration and salary to grant you a high release clause. |
